The rubber non-slip backing will stop the mat slipping when used and will help keep you safe by preventing unwanted falls! Our Dirttrapper mat has a nitrile rubber backing, unlike most doormats of this type that have a latex or PVC backing. The advantage of the Dirttrapper mat is it withstands washing and tumble drying at 60 degrees and comes complete with a 5 year guarantee! Couple this with the unique finish and you have a great mat that will last for years! Many customers from the UK and around the world have replaced their coconut mats with our brilliant Dirttrapper cotton mats and in every case the customer has been delighted with the quality and performance of the product and are planning to return when the mats need replacing… many years later!
Trap the Dirt at the Door
Everyone and anyone responsible for keeping interiors clean and tidy faces a constant battle – keeping moisture, muck and mud out of the building and off of the flooring. The answer is, of course, to stop it at the door and prevent detritus from outdoors being tracked in on shoes or pet’s paws.
You’ve probably tried all sorts of door mats and boot scrapers at your home or workplace, from rough coir or sisal mats, to heavy duty pierced rubber mats, metal grid mats, shaggy absorbent rugs or woven polypropylene mats.
While some of these door mats may work for a time, their lifespan is limited in the face of daily wear and tear, and they definitely detract from the appearance of your entryway, particularly when they quickly begin to look grubby or start fraying round the edges.
Now there’s a new, super-resilient and stylish British made door mat available that is, quite literally, cleaning up the market.
Dirt Trapper floor mats are made here in the UK, using clever technology that ensures they look sensational in the doorway while wicking away all the dirt. And when, inevitably, they start looking a bit soiled, they can be easily washed and tumble-dried, coming up as good as new time and again.
Dirt Trapper Mat Technology
The secret of the success of Dirt Trapper mats is in the cotton pile. Cotton fibre, the purest form of cellulose, is known for its high absorbency (it can hold up to 27 times its weight in water according to ScienceDirect). Cotton is also strong, abrasion and wear resistant, so is not impacted by the constant rubbing, scuffing and trampling that a door mat is subjected to.
Dirt Trapper mats are made by impregnating cotton pile into a nitrile rubber backing, as neatly as any fine quality carpeting, so they look and feel stylish.
The nitrile rubber backing is resistant to oil and chemicals, known for its long service life, abrasion resistance and durability, extremely flexible, heat resistant and – important for a door mat – slip resistant on smooth or carpeted floors.
Fuse cotton and nitrile rubber together into a designer door mat and you have an excellent dirt trapper to protect your entryway.
Machine Washable Door Mats
The materials that go into making Dirt Trapper mats mean that they can withstand washing and tumble drying up to temperatures of 60 degrees.
Washing need not be frequent, because a good shake gets rid of loose dirt easily, and the rugs can be vacuumed.
They perform so well that we have no hesitation in supplying them complete with a five-year guarantee (though you can expect your Dirt Trapper to last much longer than that).
Our Dirt Trapper door mats, with “non-trip” rounded corners, come in a selection of colours and sizes. Choose from seven shades: slate or anthracite grey, cinnamon or coffee brown, red, cappuccino (cream) or green. Sizes range from 40cm X 60cm up to 75cm X 150cm.
Dirt Trapper Mat Questions Answered
Since we started manufacturing and supplying Dirt Trapper mats we are often asked the same questions by prospective buyers. Here are some of the answers you may need to inspire y our purchase of a Dirt Trapper door mat:
What is the best type of entrance mat?
The ideal door mat should act as an effective “scraper” to remove debris from footwear, then allow it to fall and gather on an impenetrable waterproof base, which is slip resistant so the mat stays in place. The Dirt Trapper door mat with its cotton pile and nitrile rubber backing fits the bill perfectly.
How do you clean a Dirt Trapper mat?
You can shake out or vacuum your Dirt Trapper mat as often as you like to keep it free of loose dirt and debris. When it starts to look grubby you can pop it in the washing machine (if it fits – but if it is too large you can wash it by hand in a bath or large receptacle, or even give it the once-over with a power washer). Wash it as often as you like – it won’t fade or lose its properties.
To machine wash use detergent, but no fabric conditioner, at a temperature of no more than 60º C. Wash the Dirt Trapper mat on its own (rolled into an old pillowcase is recommended). It can be dried naturally or in a tumble dryer, fluffed up and put back to work in the doorway.
Do door mats help with dirt?
Most of the dust and dirt that accumulates in the interior of a building, especially one that is well insulated, comes in through open doors and windows. In wet, windy weather a lot of dirt is carried in through the entrance door, most of it stuck to the soles of our shoes or blown in as we come and go. Wiping your feet on an efficient door mat will catch a great deal of this incoming dirt, and keep it out of the rest of the building.
Can I vacuum a door mat?
A door mat is the first line of defence when it comes to keeping dirt out of your home or workplace, so they need regular vacuuming to remove the debris that has become trapped in their fibres. We’d recommend a good shake out before vacuuming, to loosen any dirt that may be stuck deep within the pile.
Can door mats go in the washing machine?
You can machine wash a door mat if it is made of suitable washable material, and follow the manufacturer’s instructions. This usually applies only to cotton or other natural fabric mats with a rubber backing. Coir and plastic mats should not be machine washed. Make sure you check the capacity of your washing machine – door mats that are too large or too heavy should not be washed in your machine.
